Minty Lines.

So Lady Gaga's prediction was right. Mint is in this spring. I've seen mint colors EVERYWHERE! Now It's on my eyes. I was feeling a little daring today so here is my mint look. These photos don't do the mint shadow any justice.

Gosh, Another Rainbow Look???

I've seen so many tutorials on rainbow eye looks. Any thing from the simple yet elegant rainbow liner to the just tacky rainbow eyes. (We've all seen 'em, don't lie) I have never sported a rainbow look until today because I honestly think it's completely over done. I know it sounds a little hypocritical but oh well.  :P

Spring/Summer Beauty Tips

Spring is here! We've all been working hard changing our wardrobes and fashions for spring. So why not change up our beauty routines? Here are some wonderful tips that will work great for spring and summer!

Stop Seeing Red

Spring brings lots of things, the return of the beautiful green leaves, new flowers and an allergy attack for some. On these pollen-filled days, when you know your allergies are acting up avoid wearing green eyeshadows. Green eyeshadows can make your eyes look even more bloodshot. Instead grab a navy or midnight blue shadow since it will have an optical effect, leaving the whites of your eyes looking brighter.

Higbrowed.

Fuller eyebrows have definetly surpassed the overly plucked thin look today. But sometimes all the untweezed hairs can look a bit gnarly. For days like those, take your eyebrow brush or toothbrush and spritz it with a little hairspay to keep them where you want them.

The Mix Master.

Just thinking about wearing a full coverage foundation while it's hot outside makes me sweat. If your wanting to get out and still coverage any uneven skin tone or blemish, just mix your cover up with a light eye cream for moisture and a lighter look.

Cool it down

With the temp rising you might as well forget that makeup bag. To keep your lipsticks from melting keep them in the frige for a longer life and will make them harder. Plus it will feel nice when you apply it.

Flushed?

Sometimes cheeks aren't the only part that like to look rosy. For a natural, fresh looking flush without exposing yourself to the sun, try dabbin some blush to the arches of your brows.

Blowing Some Steam

Styling can be frustrating and often hard to get right. But did you know all you need is a change of scenery? Trying to blow dry your hair in your bathroom after showering can cause it to frizz from the moisture in the air. So next time try your bedroom.

Embracing Your Buns

The high bun has made its way off the runway into our everyday lives. This little bun can add to a classic look, but is also a quick and easy way to do your hair for spring and summer. Plus it will keep your hair off your neck for those scorching days.

Hit The Waves

Who doesn't love beachy waves? I'm not talking about the place to cool off but the mermaid-y waves we all love during this time. To achieve this put your hair into a braid or two then flat-iron it for a morden wavy feel.

Aw, Silky Silky Now

If you have fine, brittle or even bleached hair, you should really soften your sleeping habits. Cotton fabric can catch hair and cause friction which could cause fallout or even split ends. Silk pillowcases allow hair to glide across it.

Couch Potato.

Summer is all about enjoying the warm weather and the late sunsets. But let's be honest you know there might be a couple days where you don't get to sleep before midnight. So in case dark circles decide to make an appearance try cooling potato slices in the fridge for awhile. Once their cool place them on your eyes and relax for 10.

Milky White

Milk does the body good. It's also wonderful for your skin. Milk baths have been used for thousands of years to aid the skin in healing. Using a cotton ball and some milk can work as a cleanser as well. Lactose Enzymes can dissolve dirt, debris, and proteins will nourish your skin.

Spring Cleaning!

It's spring and you know what that means!! SPRING CLEANING! Spring cleaning should never stop at the closet. Beauty products need seasonal sorting as well.  Makeup does have an expiration date as does lotions, perfumes and creams. It's time to tackle the makeup bag at clean house.

Some people do not know how long to keep a product. Some have had an eyeshadow, or liner etc for years. The safest amount of time to keep a product is six months, any longer and your at risk of causing or obtaining an infection. When a product expires, toxic breakdown of compounds can appear which can burn or irritate the skin.   Any makeup that you have touched directly should be tossed sooner than anything dispensed by a pump or applied with a brush.

If your foundation is in a pot and you use your fingertips to gather the product, you'll need to get rid of it sooner than a foundation in a bottle with a small opening. Bacteria from your fingers can contaminate your jar.

Pressed powders have a longer life than creams of liquid products. So use your discretion- If you have had that blush since 98, and that lipstick since you were 16 throw it away obviously. But if you have had it a year or two and it seems ok you can hang on to it alittle longer.

Liquid eye makeup with an applicator should be replaced ever 3-4 months. With mascara you can clearly tell when it's time to get a new one. The consistency of the mascara will change dramatically once it gets old. The same goes for felt tip or liquid liners.

Lipgloss can go rancid and you can tell immediately. It will smell and taste awful. Once it does-chuck it. Nothing that smells awful should go on your lips. DUH

Brushes can last for years and years but if you have smashed them beyond recognition or they are broken and frayed, treat yourself to some new ones! Brushes can only take so much abuse and neglect but when treated right you can keep them a very long time. Make sure to wash them regularly.

Bottom line when it looks a little sketchy or you've had it forever-toss it. Remember "when it doubt, toss it out after 6 months.

Ocean At Midnight.

I wanted to used an aqua color and a rich purple. I wanted a mermaid-y look. This looks more like the ocean at night. I added Techno, a aqua glitter from GlamourDollEyes, which makes it look like the moon reflecting on shimmery water lol. This isn't my mermaid-y look that I wanted. It looks more like a drag queen mermaid. haha. But I like it. :]

It's an Alfred Hitchcock Kinda Day

Storms are kicking up in little ole Oklahoma. It's doomy and gloomy looking outside. Deep gray skies, the whooshing of the wind, and only the crows are out flying freely. This reminds me of an old movie lol. While everyone is stocking up for the expected storms, I was playing with makeup.

Since it is a very Hitchcock-ish day, I decided to do an inspired look.  I basically only used a black eyeshadow for the lids and right underneath the lower lid. The I drew makeshift branches with eyeliner and 2 little crows. Then I took a gray shadow and softly went under the branches to deepen it and give it an almost 3d effect.

Vampyr

Today has been interesting. As you probably already know I live in a small town in Oklahoma. It's spring time, and right now my family and I are right, smack dab in the middle of tornado alley. Today has been a small taste of whats in store for tomorrow. Saturday is supposed to be an extremely high risk of tornadoes. I LOVE this weather! but I'm scared of it at the same time. I love the crashing booms of thunder, the bright lightening that can make midnight look like noon within each strike and the steady sound of rain. GOSH I LOVE SPRINGTIME! But I do not like the tornadoes it brings. Pure destruction. Within the 7 years I have lived here we've only had one close call.  It's been gloomy and rainy today and this storms have looked like this.

Gnarly right?? Tomorrow is supposed to get much worse. We have already had 3 tornadoes within the state today.

All this gloomy weather, inspired me to do a dark smokey eye. It seemed rather fitting. I basically used my Coastal Scents 88 palette and Victorian Disco Cosmetics.

These colors are great for making brown eyes POP. It would also do the same for blue eyes.

Couture Rainbow.

Ok so random question.. Have you ever watched a tutorial and they say something like "Now I know this isn't an everyday look" or "You probably would'nt wear this grocery shopping." Well this bitch would! lol. I don't mind going out and doing little errands in crazy makeup. I live for small country-hick, god fearing people in this stupid town's double takes. I love confusing yet intriguing the people here. It's rather amusing.

But anyways I have seen so much stuff on the fashion week's makeup and hair, nail and blah blah blah. Well I wanted to try something out of the norm for me. First off, I'm not a fan of the rainbow makeup. I think it's done too often and every youtube guru has a video on "Rainbow Eye Makeup Tutorial." It's lost my interest. Now I was impressed by Bow's and Curtsey's rainbow liner. But I decided to shut the heck up and do it. Second I'm not wear eyeliner. I don't think I ever not worn eyeliner when wearing makeup. It's like cake with no frosting. lol. But I used Sugarpill's Poison Plum as liner.

Meet Me on the Brightside

The Versatile Blogger Tag/Award

So I have seen this "The Versatile Blogger" tag/award atleast 3 times. Each time I have seen this, I always think to myself  "Man, when will I get lucky enough to see my blog?!" Well.. I was reading everyone's blog posts for the morning as I do everyday and saw another post about it. So I decided to just check it out. As I was scrolling down the list of nominations I almost peed myself. There was my blog "Confessions Of A Makeup Fiend" at No. 7.

Ahhdri, the mastermind behind Liquor, Lube, and Lipstick nominated my blog for The Versatile Blogger tag/award. Her blog is fantastic, and I have literally enjoyed each of her posts. Now I don't consider myself in the normal percent of people but I absolutely adore her blog. She ties in awesome drinks, her job at a "adult novelty store" and her love for beauty. Def check her out.

Now for the rules behind this:

1. You have to nominate 15 bloggers and let them know you did so.
2. Share 7 random facts about you.
3. Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you
4 and lastly add the Versatile Blogger image to your blog post.

7 Random Facts
- I hate the word "twat." It makes me cringe. I think its a filthy dirty sounding word.
- I love anything creative. I crochet, paint, spray paint, make jewelry, prop build, photography, beauty makeup, spfx, sculpting, designing, fashion.
-  I was born and raised in Long Beach, Cali but at the age of 14 I moved to a small town in Oklahoma. It was quite a culture shock.
- I'm terrified of crickets. Don't ask me why. I know they cannot hurt me but something about them scares the hell out of me :P
- I WILL work in the special fx industry and my work WILL be in films. I HATE CG! Handmade monsters and effects are becoming a dying art.
- I love pranks and scaring people. Mainly my family. They cannot shut a door or walk into a room and not except to get pranked or the shizz scared out of them.
- I consider my family as almost the female equilvant to Malcolm In The Middle.

Here are some of the blogs I nominate and love. You should totally give their blogs a looksey.

Spa Day!

Once every week I take the time out to have a small spa day. I'll wash my hair with different stuff or make hair masks and make face masks for myself. Hey if no one is gonna pamper me, I might as well do it myself. :P So I decided I could turn this into a blog post. So prepare yourself for Brie's Spa Day Adventure!!! (actually it wasn't as exciting as I'm making it out to be :P)

Before I did anything to my face I figured I should wash it so it will stay out of my face and mask. My hair apparently LOVES face masks. When it's dry and pulled back into a unicorn horn as my little sister calls it, stray hairs still find their way into the mask.  Plus my hair has been looking a little drab. So I decided to deep condition it as well as wash it with something special!

BEER!!

I don't get why guys buy an abundant amount of beer and then only drink 3 of them?? what's the point of that? Not that I'm condoning guys for NOT drinking lol, but I find it a waste of money. My boyfriend has done this twice now. But this is how I think; If you don't drink it, it's going in my hair. Haha.

I used my basic Sauve shampoo, then washed my hair with my boyfriend's Axe anti-dandruff shampoo. It makes my hair feels SOOOO soft and super shiny! But SHHHHHH don't tell him I use it! :P

Then I massaged Aussie's Cleanse and Mend conditioner into my hair, wrapped it with a towel and left it on while I prepared my scrub/mask.

Usually I will wash my face with a mild cleanser like Neutrogena's Morning Burst Wash. This honestly doesn't do much for my skin other than making it slightly softer. I don't feel that awesome burst from the little capsules nor does it make me want to sing to loud catchy pop tunes or fall onto a couch and laugh with my bestie. I also heard morning washes will work better at nighttime, because your face has been through shizz during the day. So unless you sleep on dirty, grimy sheets and pillows try it at night.

Enough face wash rambles, onto the scrub I swear by. I love this scrub. It takes only 3 minutes to make and does wonders. Green tea and honey are amazing for our skin!

Start off by pouring about 5 -8 tablespoons into a tiny bowl, Then I turn on the hot water from the sink facet and wait until it gets slightly warm and fill up a coffee cup. I steep my tea bag

After it turns a light green I add approx. 3 tablespoons into the sugar.

Once you stir it, it should resemble wet sand.

Then just squeeze a little honey into the mix. Honey is great for hydrating and treating acne. Then stir, stir, stir.

With a damp face, use your finger tips to gently massage this all over your face. Yes it does feel kind of like sandpaper. But it will leave your skin smooth like a baby's butt. I even scrub my lips and hands with it.  It makes my face look wrinkly! And yes I do make funny faces when applying these. You should see my face for applying mascara. :P

Once you rinse this your skin will look and feel incredibly soft!

Next I made a new face mask I just learned about.  I tried it last week with my wonderful friend who joined me for spa day! I call this the Cake Batter Face Mask

You'll need.

Cocoa powder, brown sugar, baking soda, milk, and egg and water.

In a bowl, add a 2tablespoons of water and 3 tablespoons of brown sugar.

Once it's completely mixed pour it into a small sauce pan and heat it up until the sugar burns off.

Now I know your probably thinking When the eff do I know when the sugars burned off??? Trust me I was thinking the same thing. Once it starts to bubble like the picture below stir it consistently for a minute and remove it from the heat.
Pouring the newly made caramel back into your bowl add in 1 1/2 tablespoons of baking soda and mix!

The concoction should look like this below.

Once that's all stirred add in 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.

Once stirred it should look honestly like a big clump of cake poop.

Now you will need a separate bowl for this part. Take your egg and crack it, then separate the egg white and yolk by rocking it back in forth in each part of the shell.

Whisk your egg until it is runny

Add in a tablespoon on milk and whisk until it is frothy like this.
Combine the two and mix well.
And WAAA-LAA it should resemble chocolate cake/brownie mix. But do NOT be tempted to taste this! I was coaxed into tasting it by my bestie. Remember there's baking soda in it and it leaves a very undesirable taste in the back of your throat. haha.
Then just apply it evenly. This is my sexy and I know it face. It's just DAMMNNNN yeaaa. :P :P

Leave it on for about 30 minutes and scrub off. Your face will feel utterly smooth and silky. :]
