Natural Remedies: Sunburns

People have worshipped the sun for centuries now. But only in this past century have people worshipped the sun by lay out and baking themselves to a golden tan. But sometimes that golden tan can be masked by a angry sunburn. Overexposure to the sun can majorly hurt but these remedies can put you at ease while Mother Nature heals the burn. But remember, these remedies cannot reverse any real damage caused by unprotected exposure to the sun.

1. Baking Soda

Adding a few tablspoons of baking soda into your bathwater makes for a great sunburn-soothing bath. Soak in the water for atleast 15-20 minutes. If you soak any longer you will be at risk of drying your skin out. Baking soda creates an alkalized envoirment which is soothing to a burn. It also has antiseptic properties to help relief itching. When it's time to get out, fight the urge to towel dry. Instead air dry and do not wipe off the baking soda.

2. Oatmeal

Oatmeal added to a cool bath can be a wonderful relief for a sunburn. Scooping 1/2-1 cup of oatmeal into your bathwater. Oatmeal has anti-inflammatory properties to help relieve pain.

3.  Aloe

Aloe is a thick, gel-like juice from the aloe vera plant. This can take the sting and redness from a sunburn. Aloe vera contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties  to provide relief.

4. Cold Compresses.

Resting a cool compress on a burn ( do not apply ice or an ice pack to a sunburn) Cold compresses can relieve discomfort but that's about it. A cold compress using milk can be soothing and relieve any itching.

Graduation Makeup.

Graduation is always an exciting point in our lives. No matter what grade your graduating from it's always an exciting, nerve racking, and sad day for everyone. Knowing you will no longer be in the comfort of your old school, knowing your way around and almost everyone there. Some friends turn into strangers when moving up to a different school. But there is always room for new ones. New experiences, new memories to make, and new outlooks on life.

My little sisters recently graduated 5th and 8th grade. Both are extremely nervous moving on to middle school and high school. But I know both are strong enough to handle whatever is thrown their way. Any who I had the pleasure of being my oldest-little sister's and her friends personal beautician for the event. I waxed them from eyebrow to chin lol. I did their hair which I'm a little rusty in that department but turned out great. As well as their makeup. Which was a struggle trying to figure out what they wanted. :P

For my little sister's makeup She wanted something clean and neutral with no dark colors. So I decided to do a bright pinup inspired look using a basic black liner and the coastal scents palette in my kit. The highlight is Sugarpill's Tako on top of Nyx milk pencil.

Her awesome  friend and basically my adopted sister wanted many different things from silvers and glitters to blues, greens and pinks. I convinced her that a nice silver smokey gradient eye would suite her eye shape and dress very well. I had to get her out of her thick black eye liner routine just once for this look and she loved it. I paired this look with a nice 12 hour stay strong lip stain.

In the end, everyone looked so beautiful and I'm truly proud of these girls. :]

DecoDen Crazy

Ever since I seen an article of Beautylish about 3D nails I have fallen in love with this style. The Kawaii Decoden trend has been huge in Japan and has just hit the states within the past month. Decoden is basically decorating phones, mirrors, laptops, ipods hell even nails with charms, crystals and miniature sweets.

I think 3D nails are very cute and quirky. It's definitely creative! But I find these nails impractical. Imagine the hassle of these? These nails would make zipping up your pants, grabbing things, or even going the the bathroom an obstacle. lol :P Their cute nontheless.

I've seen so many cute decoden things lately that I've been dying to make my own! I recently gotten a new phone which from day one I've been coming up with idea's to design my phone case! Finally I've done it! It was surprisingly quick and very easy.

All the little charms I used were originally buttons I purchased from my local craft store for no more than 2.75 a package I used wire cutters to clip off the button loops on the back for a flatter surface. I also used Latex Caulking which can be found at Walmart, Lowes, or Home Depot. The Caulking will look like white frosting when it's dry.

Isn't it cute?? This case was originally a basic metallic pink color. My little sister thought my idea was stupid before hand until she saw the finished look and immediately wanted her's done too. :P

This is what her case looks like. Her's was a little more difficult to do since her case is made out of silicone. So swirling the caulking around was rather difficult in spots. But I didn't stop here oh no. lol :P I even decorated a little mirror.

I think this mirror is absolutely ADORABLE! I don't know if I want to keep it or save it back for a giveaway. What do you think? Should I add this into my giveaway collection? Have you made any decoden items?

Recipe of the week: Cripsy Ginger Chicken Strips Using Rice Crispies.

I've been thinking of new ideas to spice up my blog with. I've come up with a Recipe Of The Week, since I love to cook and have come across incredible recipes. I figured I would share some with you lovely girls (and any guys :P )

What You'll need
-1lb Chicken Breast
-1 cup of Rice Crispies Cereal
-1 cup Panko Bread Crumbs
-1/2 package of Panko Kariage mix
-2 Eggs
-1/2 cup Terakyi Sauce
-2 ts Ginger
- Any oil of your liking
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

After I separated out 1lb of chicken, I washed it with luke warm water. Remember you must open any folds or cervices to make sure you have thoroughly washed your chicken. Packaged chicken does contain about 15% of chicken poop. So never skip washing your meat :P

After your chicken is washed, take a small paring knife and remove any fat or veins. I like to keep a plastic bag handy just to make sure I'm not making a bigger mess than necessary. Any veins in the middle of the chicken can be removed when you cut it into strips.

Now that your chicken clean and slimmed down, take a larger knife and cut sideways not lengthwise. This is great because the strips are smaller which are excellent for kids and smaller children. Or even for dinner parties. They're almost bite size.

Now you can set your chicken aside while you prepare the terakyi egg wash.  This is simple and easy step that requires a normal size bowl. Here I used a cereal bowl. Crack your 2 eggs into the bowl and whisk back and forth rapidly using a fork. You can quit beating the eggs once it turns frothy or bubbly like this

Next add a 1/2 cup of terakyi sauce. Here I am using Kikkoman's Teryaki sauce. Then add 2 ts of Ginger seasoning. Mix well

Next comes the fun part. :] In a large bowl add in 1 cup of bread crumbs and a half package of Kara-age seasoning and mix together. then take 1 cup of Rice Crispies treats and add it in. Then crunch, crunch crunch until it looks similar to the bread crumbs, or like the bottom picture.

When breading chicken, reserve one hand for grabbing the chicken out of the egg wash and one for the dry breading. Add a significant amount of chicken into the egg wash and submerge them. Grab at least two pieces with your wet hand and add them into the dry mixture.

With your reserved dry hand, cover the top of the chicken with the breading and press down lightly, Then flip and do the same.

Lay each finished piece onto your pan or cookie sheet and drizzle all the chicken with 2 capfulls of any oil you prefer, today I used basic vegetable oil. But you can use sesame oil, olive oil, or canola oil.

Place your chicken into the preheated oven for 30-45 minutes until golden brown.

And WAA-LAAA you have made yummy crispy chicken strips.

Let me know if you make this, and how it turns out. :]

My Top Favorite Fragrances.

Who doesn't like to smell good? Our scents can make or break a first impression. Smelling good can be inviting to others. I mean who wants to hang around someone who is straight up funky? lol  Good perfumes and fragrances can be found anywhere. They don't have to be designer or come with a free tote bag with purchase to be a great smelling perfume. Not every perfume from a designer or one at an expensive department store smells good, In fact I have smelled some very very bad ones that were high end. My favorites have been found for fairly cheap and smell excellent.

Pink Ice by Rue 21

My friend at the time had this perfume before I did, She sprayed it once for me to smell and after that everytime I went to her house I would steal a squirt of it. It smells great! But now I have my own and I bet she's happy about that :P Pink Ice is a mixture of floral and fruity that smells absolutely sweet. It's great for date nights or even on the go. I think I bought this for about $10. This has to be probably my second favorite.

Midnight Pomegrante.

I can't walk into Bath & Body without spraying 50 different kinds of perfumes and and sniffing lotions. I stumbled upon this lovely scent while preparing to go to Branson. This has a variety of different scents to create this wonderful fruity and slightly musky fragrance. Now I'm not one for musky perfumes but this is such a subtle one that it's A OK with me. :] This perfume has a blend of sandalwood, patchouli, anise, pomegrantes, sparkling citrus and many more. It's a great when I'm in a hurry to run errands or just for a light scent. This was $14

Butterfly Flower

This was another great find at Bath & Body. I bought these two together. Though I haven't used this one nearly as much as Midnight Pomegrante just for the simple reason that it smells identical to a fresh daisy. Now don't get me wrong I absolutely LOVE the smell of daisies and this perfume but i DO NOT dare to wear this in the spring. I've made that mistake and was almost attacked by bees. lol Like I said it's identical to daisies. This was part of a limited collection. But if you do find it grab it up!

Love Spell.

I loved this fragrance since I was a child. I remember being in Cali walking through the malls and having to stop at Victoria's secrets to spray some on me. :P This is my all time favorite perfume. This is a great date night perfume or even if you just wanna feel sexy lol. That's what this perfume smells like fruity and sexy haha. It has a blend of white jasmine, peach, anise, cherry blossom. My boyfriend also loves this perfume lol. This was $20 and SO worth every penny.

Patchouli Oil

Sometimes I just don't feel like wearing perfume, but still wanna smell good. So I'll grab my handy dandy patchouli oil. Now when you wear patchouli only a dab will work. Patchouli can be such an overbearing smell usually adorn by hippies trying to cover up the smell of you-know-what :P But not in my case. I absolutely love the smell of patchouli when worn right hahah. Have you ever noticed within an hour it seems as though your perfume you applied has faded? well Patchouli doesn't fade haha.

Hippie Chic

This is such a lovely perfume. I received this as a christmas present and as you can tell I'm down to fumes pretty much. lol. Usually when I think of hippies, I think of either bad hygiene or an over abundance of patchouli, and I love hippies but mannn. lol. This on the other hand is a light nature based perfume. It is fruity and floral. It has a combination of fuji apples, hibiscus, jasmine, lily of the valley, rasberry, pomegrante and sandalwood. It's very delightful. This is about $60 for the full bottle.

Metallic Waters.

I've been wanting to use an eye shadow I bought from Victorian disco called Godric. It's a very rusty red almost orange. It's an absolutely gorgeous color with great pay off. Here is a look I did using Godric.

Tangerine Water

I'm back! It's been about a week since I did a new blog post. This past week has been in the high 80s-90's and pretty damn humid. I think I've wore makeup like once not including today this past week. Walking outside with makeup on is like a getting punched in the face by the sun. The one time I did my makeup, I walked outside to smoke a cigarette and take photos of it, I nearly sweated it off before I could photograph it. lol. So I just havent wasted the energy to do it.

But here is my look from today :]

This look is far from anything special only 3 colors, but I really liked the color combo.

8 Out of the Box Ways To Use Your Nail Polish.

When you think of nail polish, you think of painting your nails right?? Well your nail polish can do much more than just that.

1. Spice up those heels.

You can use your favorite nail polish to paint the soles of your heels with. It's a easy and cheap way to update them. Remember to tape out the area so you don't get polish on anywhere else but the sole. Using an opaque color so it wont reveal the true color.

2. Ms. Fix it.

Nail polish can work as shoe polish to cover up any scratches or scrapes on your shoes. Most of the time it is hard to find a match to your shoes. Nail polish comes in every color so you'll always have a match. Just make sure you test it on your nail first.

3. Personalize.

Making gifts can be fun. Some people even like making intitaled gifts for their friends and family. Nail Polish and a stencil can work wonders in that department.

4. Spicing up your jewelry.

Do you have a boring old necklace? try repainting it with nail polish! Nail polish can help give new life to any faux necklace, ring or earrings. A pop of color can really change things up.

5.  Live Alittle Longer

Have you ever bought a cute little ring and within a couple of days your finger is forest green? well when the air hits the metal, it oxidizes and changes it's color. Using a clear, finishing coat will lock out the air and keep your finger from turning that nasty color.

6. Pasty! Pasty!

Your doing this fun little project and you just ran out of friggin glue! What next? Grab some nail polish! By adding a couple drops of nail polish to your item can work as an adhesive. I would only use this when you seriously run out of normal glue first.

7. My That's A Fabulous Wart.

Painting a drop of nail polish on a wart will remove it within a week. But you must throw away the nail polish to avoid spreading issues.

8. I've ripped my pants!

Clear nail polish can stop pantyhose from running any farther. So make sure to have a bottle handy!
