Mystic

I have been keeping my makeup to the bare minimum lately. This summer has been EXTREMELY humid and hot reaching temperatures of 114 and 60% humidity. Walking outside is like a kick to the lungs lately. So my makeup routine has changed dramatically over the past 2 months. I've stuck to a light spf 15 moisturizer, face powder, bronzer, and waterproof mascara. I feel almost naked at times. lol.

Tonight I decided to change it up, I've been missing colors so much I think I'm one step away from fiending lol :P I'm having a girls night out with some friends going to get drinks then see Magic Mike. Yum! I know! lol Here is the look I will be sporting. It's a great summer look, its not heavy so you wont sweat it off and I think this looks brings out the bronze goddess lol.

Old Hollywood Dreamy Eyes

The Hollywood industry has changed drastically. The time and landscape may be new and overrun, but the thing that really stands out is that today's starlets still try to emulate the classic beauties like Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich and so on.

Old Hollywood was the essence of real women. Women wanted to be noticed for their flawless beauty, hair and outfits. Looking back to the 60's,70's, 80's and even 90's it was all about a sexual revolution for women. Women wanted to dress how they want whether it was an androgynous look or not. Women wanted to be looked at for their brains and power not their beauty.  But Marilyn Monroe or Sophia Loren were huge stars who proved they had just as much talent as they did beauty.  Classic looks focused on a ladylike glamour.

I am very inspired by the fierce women of these decades. I think in general that era was much more fascinating than ours. Women acted like ladies and men were gentlemen. Chivlary was alive and kicking and everyone had respect for themselves.  Marlene Dietrich was my inspiration for my look today. She had a very sculpted and contoured face. She was known for her dreamy, sleepy eyes and her very precise contours. Granted I was blessed with chubby cheeks (note my sarcasm) so I don't quite have that great cheek bone structure. But anyways.

Dark Waters.

I've been pretty M.I.A lately and I apologize. It's been a pretty couple of weeks. I've been to the lake about 3 times a week barbecuing with best friends, my sisters and our little ones. I think I have finally gotten over my fears of lake water lol. I have lived in Oklahoma for almost 7 years and have never even put a foot in any lake. The water is a dirty brownish color that I personally like to refer it as "poop water." Oh not to mention the fact that I have been fishing on a calm, hot, beautiful day with my boyfriend and have seen water moccasins gliding through the water. If you don't know what a water moccasin is, its a highly poisonous snake that my ass wants no part of. :P  Anywho we have been there so much that I have fried to a crisp, then refried all over again.

Along with the lake, our town had it's annual festival called Sunfest. It's filled with all different varieties of over-priced food and drinks as well as booths selling things from soaps and candles to dipping your hand in hot wax and keeping the mold for a great $15. They also have a wonderful mixture of musical genres. I love this old blues guy who plays every year. But we finally had a bigger band come through, an excellent Beatles tribute band who won a Grammy this previous year. I must say they were FABULOUS! I swear it was like a legit concert there. I live in a fairly small town of 30,000 and I think about half of the town was in that tiny park rocking out with us.

It was quite hot that day, so I decided to wear very minimal makeup. I wore a shimmery white eyeshadow on my lid paired with magenta and a dark taupe shadow on the crease and outer corner of my eyes. For lipstick I went with a light coral gloss.

I have also been working very hard to get into Cosmotology at the local college with my bestie. We both passed our testing, and got a spot after calling our old high school on 2 minute intervals trying to get those women to finally answer their phones. lol But we have it all fixed and transcripts are sent. Now I'm just waiting for a callback to see if I got it for sure. I'm extremely excited yet nervous. But I know I will do magnificent in it because it's been something I've been studying daily on my own for 4 years now. :]

I decided today I would do something dramatic with my makeup. I have missed going color crazy with my face. lol. So here is the look I'm currently rocking.

Natural Remedies: Sunburns

People have worshipped the sun for centuries now. But only in this past century have people worshipped the sun by lay out and baking themselves to a golden tan. But sometimes that golden tan can be masked by a angry sunburn. Overexposure to the sun can majorly hurt but these remedies can put you at ease while Mother Nature heals the burn. But remember, these remedies cannot reverse any real damage caused by unprotected exposure to the sun.

1. Baking Soda

Adding a few tablspoons of baking soda into your bathwater makes for a great sunburn-soothing bath. Soak in the water for atleast 15-20 minutes. If you soak any longer you will be at risk of drying your skin out. Baking soda creates an alkalized envoirment which is soothing to a burn. It also has antiseptic properties to help relief itching. When it's time to get out, fight the urge to towel dry. Instead air dry and do not wipe off the baking soda.

2. Oatmeal

Oatmeal added to a cool bath can be a wonderful relief for a sunburn. Scooping 1/2-1 cup of oatmeal into your bathwater. Oatmeal has anti-inflammatory properties to help relieve pain.

3.  Aloe

Aloe is a thick, gel-like juice from the aloe vera plant. This can take the sting and redness from a sunburn. Aloe vera contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties  to provide relief.

4. Cold Compresses.

Resting a cool compress on a burn ( do not apply ice or an ice pack to a sunburn) Cold compresses can relieve discomfort but that's about it. A cold compress using milk can be soothing and relieve any itching.

Graduation Makeup.

Graduation is always an exciting point in our lives. No matter what grade your graduating from it's always an exciting, nerve racking, and sad day for everyone. Knowing you will no longer be in the comfort of your old school, knowing your way around and almost everyone there. Some friends turn into strangers when moving up to a different school. But there is always room for new ones. New experiences, new memories to make, and new outlooks on life.

My little sisters recently graduated 5th and 8th grade. Both are extremely nervous moving on to middle school and high school. But I know both are strong enough to handle whatever is thrown their way. Any who I had the pleasure of being my oldest-little sister's and her friends personal beautician for the event. I waxed them from eyebrow to chin lol. I did their hair which I'm a little rusty in that department but turned out great. As well as their makeup. Which was a struggle trying to figure out what they wanted. :P

For my little sister's makeup She wanted something clean and neutral with no dark colors. So I decided to do a bright pinup inspired look using a basic black liner and the coastal scents palette in my kit. The highlight is Sugarpill's Tako on top of Nyx milk pencil.

Her awesome  friend and basically my adopted sister wanted many different things from silvers and glitters to blues, greens and pinks. I convinced her that a nice silver smokey gradient eye would suite her eye shape and dress very well. I had to get her out of her thick black eye liner routine just once for this look and she loved it. I paired this look with a nice 12 hour stay strong lip stain.

In the end, everyone looked so beautiful and I'm truly proud of these girls. :]

DecoDen Crazy

Ever since I seen an article of Beautylish about 3D nails I have fallen in love with this style. The Kawaii Decoden trend has been huge in Japan and has just hit the states within the past month. Decoden is basically decorating phones, mirrors, laptops, ipods hell even nails with charms, crystals and miniature sweets.

I think 3D nails are very cute and quirky. It's definitely creative! But I find these nails impractical. Imagine the hassle of these? These nails would make zipping up your pants, grabbing things, or even going the the bathroom an obstacle. lol :P Their cute nontheless.

I've seen so many cute decoden things lately that I've been dying to make my own! I recently gotten a new phone which from day one I've been coming up with idea's to design my phone case! Finally I've done it! It was surprisingly quick and very easy.

All the little charms I used were originally buttons I purchased from my local craft store for no more than 2.75 a package I used wire cutters to clip off the button loops on the back for a flatter surface. I also used Latex Caulking which can be found at Walmart, Lowes, or Home Depot. The Caulking will look like white frosting when it's dry.

Isn't it cute?? This case was originally a basic metallic pink color. My little sister thought my idea was stupid before hand until she saw the finished look and immediately wanted her's done too. :P

This is what her case looks like. Her's was a little more difficult to do since her case is made out of silicone. So swirling the caulking around was rather difficult in spots. But I didn't stop here oh no. lol :P I even decorated a little mirror.

I think this mirror is absolutely ADORABLE! I don't know if I want to keep it or save it back for a giveaway. What do you think? Should I add this into my giveaway collection? Have you made any decoden items?
